I'm not sure who wrote this article but I think the point is being missed. Why are Corporations looking to hiring lesser qualified younger people? Beause they will work for less money and, many times they will still have to learn the "system" from a seasoned older employee. Yes, these are common sense practical tips but they would apply to any situation--even if the boss were female in an all male environment.

Great article. I agree. Many people in the baby boomer generation must change their lifestyles after they retire. This is not easy for many. But as you point out, there are alternatives.

The recession is taking a toll on the baby boomer generation. I can say that because I am slightly older than that generation. But I don't feel that old. And I have found a way to transition from corporate America.

Yes, many have seen their retirement savings hurt by the recession - the stock market crash and falling home prices. But I feel that most who have been hurt will recover.

Most are well educated, aggressive, and creative. Many have had successful careers. They are also accustomed to giving - giving to help others.

Just because some baby boomers don't have enough to live on as they consider retirement, doesn't mean that they must suffer in retirement. Many will find the work from home, internet network marketing industry as a great alternative for utilizing their abilities and helping others. I know they will succeed.

These are some great tips. You know, I always recommend to my sellers that they need to declutter in order to make their homes more presentable during the selling process. What a great point to make that decluttering is actually all about making your life in general more organized and more simple. These are very realistic goals and steps to make that will get the job done.

My husband and have decided that if we can't pay cash, then we really don't need it--unless it's a really big ticket item like an appliance. Forcing yourself to use cash for your purchases will definitely make you cut back on your spending. We also shop at Costco's--the bulk food warehouse---so we don't have to keep going to the grocery store weekly. Even as a very small family, we see the benefits of buying in bulk.

I think you don't need to be disappointed after retirement. I know it's difficult to change your daily routines, but look at it from other point. After retirement you have opportunity to do many things, you just have to find something you are interested in. Your new activities will help you to fill your free time. So, relax and spend your golden ages in happiness.

My motto for the new year is: "Surround yourself with brilliance and then rise to the occasion!" The people around you will either inspire you to greater heights or drag you to the bottom. I sincerely appreciate all you've done in 2009. Happy New Year!

Great tips. I would also like to mention "Pareto's Principle," which is more commonly known as the "80/20 rule." When applied to organizing or decluttering a home or office, it can be particularly useful. If you look at all your "stuff" you will note that you actually use 20% of it on a regular basis, while 80% of it is rarely used. Taking it one step further, one can say that 80% of the stuff that is rarely used is cluttering their space. If you were to eliminate some or even all of the 80% that just takes up space, you will have more room than you know what to do with. I realize it isn't quite that simple, but it is a good mental exercise, and it helps bring clarity to the process.
